Builder 2.0 as Default Creation Experience
Builder 2.0 is now the default selection in the create modal, accelerating adoption of the new editor
This article documents the promotion of Builder 2.0 to the default selection in the microapp creation modal, shipped in Tiled v58.0.0. As of this release, when a user creates a new microapp, Builder 2.0 is pre-selected as the builder version. Builder 1.0 remains available as an explicit choice for users who require it.
Scope: All Tiled users who create new microapps (Editor role and above). This is a default-setting change — no features are removed. Builder 1.0 continues to function for existing and new microapps.
2. What Changed
|
Before v58.0.0 |
The create modal offered Builder 1.0 and Builder 2.0 as choices, with Builder 1.0 pre-selected by default or no version pre-selected. |
|
After v58.0.0 |
Builder 2.0 is pre-selected in the create modal. New microapps open in Builder 2.0 unless the user explicitly selects Builder 1.0. |
|
Builder 1.0 |
Still available in the create modal as an explicit selection. Existing Builder 1.0 microapps are unaffected. |
|
Existing Microapps |
No change. Existing microapps continue to open in the builder version they were created in. |
3. Why This Change Was Made
Builder 2.0 now includes feature parity with Builder 1.0 for the majority of use cases and introduces significant capabilities — including Scroll States, improved adaptive formats, and enhanced canvas performance — that are not available in Builder 1.0. Setting Builder 2.0 as the default ensures that new microapps benefit from these capabilities without requiring users to actively opt in.
|
Note: Users who prefer Builder 1.0 for specific workflows can still select it from the create modal. There is no planned deprecation timeline for Builder 1.0 at this time. Contact your Library Administrator or Tiled support if you have questions about which builder version is appropriate for your use case. |
4. Impact on Existing Workflows
• New microapp creation: Builder 2.0 opens by default. Users who click Create without changing the version selection will be in Builder 2.0.
• Templates and duplicates: microapps duplicated from existing microapps retain the builder version of the original.
• Import: imported microapp packages restore in the builder version of the source microapp.
• Team onboarding: new team members will encounter Builder 2.0 first. Ensure your team has access to Builder 2.0 documentation and training resources.
