How to Create and Use Custom Microapp Templates
This guide explains how Library Administrators can set an existing microapp library as the account's template library — giving everyone on the team a branded, pre-configured starting point when building new microapps.
Overview
Account templates are published microapps that live inside a library designated as your account's template library. When a creator begins a new microapp, every published microapp in that library appears as a template option alongside Tiled's built-in templates — giving your team a consistent baseline with your layouts, tiles, and configuration already in place.

Setting Up a Template Library
1. Go to Settings > General and set the template library.
2. Choose an existing microapp library to designate as the account's template library.
3. Any microapp that is published and lives inside that library automatically appears as a template in the creation flow.
|
Tip: Before designating a library as your template library, make sure the microapps inside it reflect your current brand standards — layout, placeholder tiles, color scheme, and any default content you want every new microapp to start with. |
Managing Templates
Because templates are simply published microapps inside the designated library, managing them means managing that library:
• Add a template by publishing a microapp into the template library.
• Update a template by editing and republishing the microapp already in that library.
• Remove a template from the creation flow by moving the microapp out of the template library or unpublishing it.
Using a Template
4. Start creating a new microapp from the Library.
5. In the creation modal, browse available templates — your account templates appear alongside Tiled's built-in templates.
6. Select an account template to start from your branded, pre-configured baseline.
Common Questions
Can I update an existing template after it's been created?
Yes — update the microapp itself (in the template library) and republish it. Updating a template does not affect microapps that were already created from it; only new microapps started after the update will use the revised version.
What's included when a microapp in the template library is used as a template?
The template reflects the microapp's layout, tile structure, and configuration as published. Content specific to a particular campaign or recipient should be removed before publishing it into the template library, so the template stays a clean, reusable starting point.
Can Editors create their own templates?
Any user with permission to publish microapps into the template library can effectively create a template. All Editors can use templates when creating a new microapp, regardless of who published them.
I don't see the template library setting — what should I check?
Confirm you have Library Administrator access for your account. If you believe you should have access and don't, contact your Library Administrator.
