Personalization Mode

Personalization now has its own dedicated space in the Builder, separate from editing, with a summary of what's personalized at a glance

Overview

Personalization has moved out of Edit mode and into its own dedicated space in the Builder. Instead of setting up personalized fields inside the same mode used for building out a microapp's layout and content, Personalize is now a separate mode with its own toolbar, its own Assets and Layers panels, and a summary of what's personalized and what isn't.

The Builder Toolbar

The top toolbar now separates the microapp's modes into distinct icons:

Activity

The pulse icon. Opens engagement and analytics for the microapp.

Edit

The pencil icon. The standard Builder mode for laying out pages, tiles, and content.

Personalize

The lightning bolt icon. Opens the dedicated Personalization mode, covered in this article.

Preview

The play icon. Opens a live preview of the microapp.

Publish

Publishes the microapp, making the current version live.

Selecting Personalize switches the entire Builder into Personalization mode. The canvas, Assets panel, and Layers panel all reflect the personalization context rather than the general editing context.

Personalize Tiles Summary

At the top of Personalization mode, a summary panel shows how many tiles in the microapp are personalized versus static:

Personalized

The count of tiles currently set up as personalizable fields.

Static

The count of tiles that are not personalizable and will not change between viewers.

On a microapp with no personalized tiles yet, the panel reads “Add some tiles to start personalizing your microapp,” prompting the next step. An info icon in the panel's corner provides additional context on how personalization counts are calculated.

Layers and Assets in Personalization Mode

The side panel in Personalization mode carries the same four tabs used in Edit mode, Layers, Assets, Overlays, and Components, scoped to the personalization context.

Layers tab

Shows the microapp's tile structure, the same way it does in Edit mode, for reference while setting up personalization.

Assets tab

Shows the microapp's asset library. If no assets have been added yet, options to import from Figma or Adobe XD using the Tiled plugin, or add assets manually, appear here.

Overlays tab

Shows overlays configured for the microapp, for reference while setting up personalization on overlay content.

Components tab

Shows reusable components used in the microapp, for reference while setting up personalization on component-based content.

 

Tip: Use the search field and filter icon at the top of the Assets tab to quickly find a specific asset when a library has many entries.

Device Preview in Personalization Mode

A device switcher lets you preview how personalization will appear across different screen sizes: desktop, tablet, and phone, plus a control to add additional device previews. This makes it possible to confirm a personalized field looks right on every device a viewer might use, without leaving Personalization mode.

Page Navigation

A Pages control remains available in Personalization mode, letting you move between the microapp's pages while setting up personalized fields on each one, the same way page navigation works in Edit mode.

Why This Changed

Separating Personalization from Edit mode keeps each mode focused on its own task. Building out a microapp's structure and content happens in Edit. Deciding which fields a seller can customize, and reviewing what's personalized across the microapp, happens in Personalize. The summary panel in particular gives a quick, at-a-glance answer to “how much of this microapp is set up for personalization” without needing to click through every tile.
