Tag Search in Library
Surface and filter microapps via tags to accelerate discovery and reduce time-to-content across large libraries
This article documents Tag Search in Library, shipped in Tiled v50.0.0. Tags are searchable and filterable metadata applied to microapps. The June 2025 release introduces the ability to search and filter the Library by tag, enabling creators and sellers to quickly locate microapps by topic, campaign, product line, or any custom taxonomy the team defines.
Scope: All Tiled users with Library access. Tag search is available to all roles that can view the Library.
2. Control Objective
The control objective is to reduce time-to-content in the Tiled Library by enabling metadata-driven discovery. As libraries grow, name-based search becomes insufficient for teams managing dozens or hundreds of microapps. Tag search provides a structured, consistent filter mechanism that complements name search and category browsing.
3. Feature Description
|
Search by Tag |
The Library search bar now accepts tag terms in addition to microapp names. Searching for a tag term filters the Library view to show only microapps that have that tag applied. |
|
Filter by Tag |
Tag filters are surfaced in the Library sidebar or filter panel. Creators can click a tag to filter the Library to microapps with that tag, or combine multiple tag filters for more precise results. |
|
Tag Visibility |
Tags applied to a microapp are visible on the microapp card in the Library, providing at-a-glance taxonomy information without requiring the creator to open the microapp. |
|
Discovery Speed |
The June 2025 Tags launch is designed to reduce the time required to find the correct microapp in large and shared libraries — a high-friction point for sales teams managing large content catalogues. |
4. Tag Taxonomy Guidance
Tag search is most effective when a consistent tagging taxonomy is established and applied across the library. Recommended taxonomy approaches:
• Product line tags — e.g., [ProductA], [ProductB] — for libraries serving multiple product teams.
• Campaign or quarter tags — e.g., [Q3-2025], [SpringCampaign] — for time-bounded content sets.
• Audience tags — e.g., [Enterprise], [SMB], [Healthcare] — for audience-segmented content libraries.
• Status tags — e.g., [Draft], [Approved], [Archived] — for content lifecycle management.
|
Note: Tags are not access control mechanisms. All Library users who can view the Library can see and use tags regardless of who applied them. Do not use tags to enforce content access restrictions. |
5. QA Validation
|
QA Scope: Tag search and library filtering were included in the June 2025 QA regression scope. Lottie and search fixes landed to support the Tags launch cleanly. |
