Tiled’s new Builder 2.0 offers a completely reimagined experience with enhanced usability, advanced features, and improved performance. To help you transition smoothly, we provide two flexible migration options—allowing you to choose the best approach based on your needs and familiarity with the new builder.
This guide will walk you through the migration process and help you decide whether to Duplicate or Convert your microapp.
Understanding Your Migration Options
When opening a microapp in Builder 1.0, you’ll be prompted to migrate to Builder 2.0. You’ll have two options:
Option 1: Duplicate (Best if you are new to Builder 2.0)
Creates a separate copy of your microapp in Builder 2.0, while keeping the original version intact in Builder 1.0, which means:
- If you want to share the updated microapp (2.0), new shared links will be required
- Brand new analytics data will then be collected and the duplicated microapp will be considered as different microapps in your analytics dashboard
- The original microapp remains editable in Builder 1.0
Option 2: Convert (Best if you’re familiar with Builder 2.0)
Upgrades your existing microapp to Builder 2.0, keeping its shared links and historical analytics intact, which means:
- All your previously shared links remain active
- Historical analytics are preserved and associated to the same microapp
- The microapp can no longer be edited in Builder 1.0
Choose this option if you’re ready to fully adopt Builder 2.0 and leverage its new capabilities immediately.
Step-by-Step Migration Process
- Access your microapp in Builder 1.0 by using the regular edit action
- Notice the "call to action" at the bottom of the screen to discover the Builder 2.0
- Click on "Learn more" to see a prompt introducing Builder 2.0 and its benefits
- Choose your migration path between Duplicate or Convert based on your preferences
- Confirm the migration

FAQs
What happens if I don’t migrate immediately?
You can continue using Builder 1.0 for now. However, Tiled will will migrate all microapps over the course of the year 2025.
Can I switch back to Builder 1.0 after migrating?
If you duplicated your microapp, you’ll still have access to the original in Builder 1.0. If you converted, migration is irreversible.
Will my microapps work the same way in Builder 2.0?
Yes! Builder 2.0 offers enhanced features while preserving your microapp’s functionality.
Will I need to update my shared links?
- Duplicate option: Yes, since it creates a new microapp.
- Convert option: No, all shared links remain active.
What if my microapp uses legacy personalization (created before September 2022)?
If your microapp was built using legacy personalization capabilities (before September 2022), the dynamic fields will not carry over automatically in Builder 2.0. You will need to:
- Recreate your dynamic fields in Builder 2.0.
- Remap your tiles to align with the new personalization framework.
