New Onboarding Flow & AI Builder Button
Testing protocol for the December 2025 onboarding experience and AI-assisted microapp creation
1. Purpose & Scope
This article documents the testing protocol for two new December 2025 features: the redesigned user onboarding and tutorial flow, and the new AI-assisted microapp creation button in the Builder. Both features were validated in Breakout Room 2 on the preprod environment.
Scope: New and returning Tiled users going through the sign-up and onboarding flow. All users with Builder access for AI button testing. QA testers in BR-2

3. Feature 1: New Onboarding & Tutorial Flow
A redesigned onboarding experience is introduced in this release. New users signing up for Tiled encounter a structured tutorial prompt after completing registration. The tutorial is optional — testers may skip it — but the flow itself must be validated for correct presentation, sequencing, and completion state.
3.1 Post-Signup Microapp Creation Prompt
After signing up, new users see a prompt to create their first microapp. This prompt appears only once per account. To trigger it again for testing purposes:
- Clear cache and cookies for the last hour and re-log in, or
- Use an incognito/private browser window for each test run.
|
Note: The post-signup microapp creation prompt is a first-session-only experience. Any tester who has already seen it on their account must use the cache-clearing method or incognito window to re-trigger it. Do not skip this validation — the prompt is a primary onboarding surface. |
3.2 Onboarding Flow Validation Steps
- Navigate to https://app-pp.tiled.co/signup in an incognito window.
- Complete the sign-up form with a new test email address.
- Observe and record the onboarding screens presented after sign-up.
- Verify the post-signup microapp creation prompt appears immediately after account creation.
- Interact with the prompt — attempt to create a new microapp via the onboarding flow.
- Verify the microapp creation flow completes successfully and lands the user in the Builder.
- Note: the tutorial is optional. If tested, verify it can be skipped without error.
- Log any unexpected screens, broken flows, or missing states in the Issues Found table.
3.3 Microapp Creation Without the Onboarding Prompt
When a logged-in user who has already seen the onboarding prompt creates a new microapp, a different creation screen is shown (not the onboarding prompt). Validate that:
- The alternative creation flow is presented correctly for returning users.
- The alternative flow successfully creates a microapp and opens it in the Builder.
- No onboarding prompt appears for users who have already completed or dismissed it.
4. Feature 2: AI Builder Button
A new AI-assisted microapp creation button is available in the Builder for this release. The button provides AI-guided content suggestions or structural assistance when creating or editing a microapp.
|
Note: Active bugs are in flight for the AI Builder button in this release cycle. Do not log every UI discrepancy as a new defect without first checking whether a ticket already exists. Focus validation on core button functionality and any clear breakages. |
4.1 AI Builder Button Validation Steps
- Open any microapp in the Builder (1.0 or 2.0) on preprod.
- Locate the AI button in the Builder toolbar.
- Click the AI button and observe the interaction it initiates.
- Follow any prompts or suggestions provided by the AI feature.
- Verify the AI-generated output (if any) is applied to the microapp correctly.
- Test the AI button on an empty microapp and on a microapp with existing content.
- Log any unexpected behavior — crashes, blank states, incorrect output — in the Issues Found table.
5. Roles & Access Requirements
|
New User (Sign-up) |
Must complete full sign-up to trigger the onboarding prompt. Use unique test email addresses per test run. |
|
Existing User (Builder) |
Can test the AI Builder button without a new sign-up. Existing preprod accounts are sufficient. |
|
QA Tester |
Responsible for executing all steps in Sections 3 and 4 and recording results in the testing matrix. |
|
Release Owner |
Reviews QA results and signs off before production deployment. |
6. Audit Evidence
- Breakout Room 2 testing results recorded in KB-vDec25-05 constitute SOC 2 CC8.1 (Change Management) evidence for onboarding flow validation.
- SOC 2 CC6.1 (Logical and Physical Access Controls): the sign-up flow is an access provisioning entry point. Validation confirms that new accounts are created correctly and the onboarding state is set appropriately per account.
