Adding a Left Navigation Bar Tile

Let’s walk through the Left Nav component — a ready-made side navigation bar you can add to a page in one step, instead of building one from individual tiles.

Left Nav vs. Top Nav

The Components tab now offers two navigation presets:

Preset

Best For

Top Nav

A horizontal navigation bar across the top of the page.

Left Nav (new)

A full-height side bar — useful for microapps with more sections than fit comfortably across the top, or for layouts that feel more like an app or a portal.

What’s Included

The Left Nav preset creates a full-height side bar, fixed to the current page, with three parts already in place:

• A logo — at the top of the bar.

• A group of links — the main navigation.

• A button — at the bottom of the bar, for a primary action.

Adding a Left Nav

1. Open the Components tab — in the Builder panel, next to Layers, Assets, and Overlays.

2. Select + — beside the search box to see the navigation presets.

3. Choose Left Nav — the side bar is created on the current page.

4. Make it yours — replace the logo, edit the link labels and where they go, and set the button’s label and action.

The Components tab lists each component in your microapp, along with how many instances of it are in use.

Pro Tip: If your library has a brand assigned in Brand Kit, swap the placeholder logo for your brand logo from the asset picker. Choose the version tagged for the background color of your nav bar.

Heads Up: Give each link a clear destination before you publish. A navigation bar whose links don’t go anywhere is more confusing to a viewer than having no navigation at all.

Try It Yourself: Add a Left Nav to a test page, point each link at a different page in your microapp, and preview it. Then try the same layout with Top Nav to see which suits your content.
